Music highlights for Thurs., Aug. 14

Jim McCormick grew up in New Orleans, earned a master's degree in creative writing from the University of New Orleans and is now a professional songster in Nashville. Artists wHO have recorded or performed McCormick's songs include Tim McGraw ("Louisiana"), Luke Bryan (the top 40 bingle "We Rode in Trucks"), Randy Travis ("You Didn't Have a Good Time, " from Travis' new record album), Trisha Yearwood ("Cowboys Are My Weakness") and Amanda Shaw (the title track of her "Pretty Runs Out" CD).




McCormick is featured at this week's early-evening "Ogden After Hours" series at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Singer-songwriter Mark Miller, erst of Deadeye Dick, is also on the bill.
